Dragon dance, dragon boat racing and tai chi are great legacies of traditional Chinese culture. In order to raise awareness for inheriting traditional culture among students, Wuhan University integrated these three cultural heritages into its P.E. course as a new practice. Each class applies to many students.

Dragon dance is a form of traditional dance and performance in Chinese culture. It is most often seen in festive celebrations. The dance is performed by a team of dancers who manipulate a long flowing figure of a dragon, using poles positioned at regular intervals along the length of the dragon.

A dragon boat is a human-powered watercraft. Dragon boats are of vital importance in the team paddling sport of dragon boat racing. Though being a watersport which has been held for over 2000 years throughout southern China, dragon boat racing has emerged in modern times as an international sport

Tai chi is an internal (focusing on mental and spiritual finesse) Chinese martial art  noted for both its defense training and its health benefits. The term Taiji refers to a philosophy of the forces of yin and yang, related to its movements. Though Tai chi was originally conceived as a martial art, people also practice for a variety of other personal reasons: competitive wrestling in the format of pushing hands, demonstration competitions, and achieving greater longevity. As a result, a multitude of training methods exist. However, whether in its traditional or modern forms, people continue to practice Tai chi for their own personal reasons.
