A New Laboratory Established at WHU

On September 25th, Wuhan University (WHU) and the State Oceanic Administration Polar Exploration Office jointly established the Laboratory on Polar Surveying, Mapping, Remote Sensing and Global Environmental Change.

Wuhan University will support this laboratory both as a new platform for academic development and a framework for achieving practical results in exploring the polar regions.

The laboratory is expected to undertake major national projects and be fully engaged in training, scientific research and scientific team development.

In 2004, WHU and the State Oceanic Administration Polar Exploration Office signed an agreement to enhance polar exploration and promote relevant research. According to the agreement, the office will provide support in policy, programs, international cooperation, while WHU will play an active role in conducting scientific research and training experts to explore the North and South pole.
