From March 20th to 23rd, iConference 2016 was held at Drexel University, Philadelphia. At this first-class symposium in the field of Information, WHU claims two awards.

At the conference, the paper written by Mr. Lihong Zhou, professor of WHU School of Information Management, was awarded the Most Interesting Preliminary Results Paper. Titled Beyond the Organisational Boundaries: Identifying External Barriers to Patient-centred Healthcare Knowledge Sharing, Prof. Zhou’s paper illustrates the effect of organizational boundaries in the process of knowledge sharing as well as the nested relations between the internal and external organizational environments for the first time.

Apart from Prof. Zhou’s paper, Prof. Tingting Jiang’s Are Mendeley’s public groups effective aggregators of high valued papers: An analysis based on paper readerships and Barriers to Knowledge Sharing in Chinese Healthcare Referral Services: an Emergent Theoretical Model, co-written by Wanxin Deng and Fang Liu, master students of WHU, were also presented by their authors at the conference.

Besides, at the first iSchool Video Contest, the video Viewing the World Amid Remote Mountains, directed by Mr. Panlei Zhang, teacher of the School of Information Management, was awarded the fifth place. WHU was the only award winner among the Chinese participants.

Established in 2005, the iConference dedicates itself to the exploration of core concepts and new technological configurations, pushing the boundaries of information studies and gathering scholars and researchers from around the world. It is held annually by a different iSchools member-institution. iConference 2017 will debut in Asia, jointly hosted by Wuhan University School of Information Management and Sungkyunkwa University in South Korea. For WHU, hosting such a conference of the highest professional standard will be of great significance to further promote its communication and collaboration with other first-class universities in the world.
