On May 18th, an orientation for international exchange students was held at School of International Education. Those who present at the orientation were Zhen Cheng, Vice Dean of School of International Education, Quan Yuan, Coordinator for International Exchange Students and many other staff working in the School of International Education and Office of International Affairs.

At 7’o clock, the orientation began as Mr. Xing Weijing from Office of International Affairs addressed his welcoming message to all exchange students at present. Then a short film about WHU was played to help students have a better understanding of the university. The gorgeous view of the campus and magnificent buildings that show university’s profound history aroused warm applause from the students. Q&A session is one of the most important parts of this orientation. Every exchange student received a piece of paper with a list of questions when entering the conference room. The questions include problems that students may encounter such as password of their student ID cards, the access to School’s information as well as degree and tuition fee matters. Mr. Xing answers every question in details and explain patiently whenever students could not understand. Later Ms. Quan Yuan gave further instructions on admission, adding specific procedures and guidance for exchange students. Mr. Zhen Cheng talked more on safety and insurance issues and gave some examples of former exchange students in order to explicitly demonstrate the importance of these issues. In the end, he hoped that students could fit in campus life here as soon as possible and recommended some student unions to them as well.

“I got answers to all my questions. Now I’m looking forward to spending the following months here at WHU.” A student majoring in International Law, Justin said.

The orientation, co-organized by Office of International Affairs and School of International Education, is held annually to help international exchange students adapt better to the new environment at Wuhan University.
