Campus Life
Never say goodbye

Words fail me when I try to cipher out some adjectives to describe my life at Wuhan University. The mixed feelings have haunted me since I realized that four years, which once seemed long, have just ticked away in the blink of my eyes and I would leave this campus in two months. For several hours, I sat in front of my computer trying to make up fancy diction to compose this essay but ended up writing not a single letter because pictures reminding me of the memorable hours in my undergraduate life kept running into and disturbing my mind. Success, failure, excitement, disappointment, joyful and grief, whatever happened to me during the past four years has already become part of my nature and soul.

I remember the day when I first entered this campus, a senior student told me the way to get to my dormitory from the south gate of the campus wa to cross the Luojia mountain. It still seems hilarious today since it was beyond my wildest dream to believe that there would be such a large campus that harbors a mountain and I would never thought of crossing a mountain to reach my dormitory.

Indeed, as Wuhan University changed the way I know about the size of campus, she has enlightened me both externally and internally. It is the spirit of freedom and cooperation in WHU that defines me. Attaching great importance to comprehensive quality and multi-disciplinary advantages, WHU removes the obstacles and constraints from my way to find out who I am. In my freshman year I majored in business management and gradually found myself uninterested in the field. Fortunately, I was permitted to spend my spare time to look into other subjects. Having been allowed to audit the Investment Theory class of junior students, I started to understand what finance means and became insanely obsessed with finance theory and trading uncertainty, risk and profits via multiple investing tools. Moreover, I double major in applied mathematics in School of Mathematics and Statistic. Actually, but for the ease of major transfer at Wuhan University, I wouldn’t be able to transfer to finance in 2012.

Besides freedom, Wuhan University has shown me the best of high-quality education and cooperation. Nearly all faculty have overseas experiences and place a high premium on education, so we are in a position to keep abreast of the latest financial theories and methodologies in the world. I feel so blessed to be endowed with the opportunity to gain knowledge from these masters in financial field, whose lectures are so inspiring that seem luxurious as an exquisite masterpiece. Our professors are giants both academically and personally. When I applied for master program, they offered me full supportin academic paper, reference and resume. I understand what it feels like when they were referring one of their best students to other college and sincerely appreciate their tutor. Without their guidance, I may remain nobody and never realize my dream.

Elder students, my peers and brothers, are the other force pushing me chasing my dream. Brothers and sisters were always ready to provide suggestions despite my trivial and somehow silly questions. Together with these friends, I feel like a sheltered home at Wuhan University.

I am going to Beijing to enroll my master program in September. The nearer the graduation approaches, the heavier my attachment to our university grows. Prof Gui Guoping once taught us a template to introduce ourselves, ‘I am a junior student of Finance from Economics and Management School of Wuhan University, one of China’s most prestigious comprehensive universities directly under the China’s Ministry of Education.’ With time going by, my memory on this sentence sticks deeper. Wuhan University cultivates my knowledge, defines my personality and shapes my future. The sear of WHU will accompany my entire life. The shortly departure means no farewell, but a pilgrimage to another version of our world. However far I trudge, I belong to Wuhan University.
