Belated sakura to bloom

(Reporter: Yang Liu; Editor: Ang Xiao)“If I had a single flower for every time I think about you, I could walk forever in my garden.”And now, it is going to be a place filled with sakura for you to pick !

At 2:30 p.m. on March 19th, Wuhan University released detailed information about sakura season of this year, which said that the belated sakura will finally be in full bloom in a few days.

Early on march 1st, Hubei Meteorological Service Center posted some pictures about the best places to see flowers and the reason why flowers come late this year.

From the picture, we can see that sakura in WHU will begin to bloom on March 25thand the flowering lasts about one week. As to the reason for delayed flowering, experts points out that it’s mainly because of short daylight, low temperature and too much rain.

Although the flower season comes late, people’s enthusiasm for seeing sakura remains high. Almost everyone who wants to visit WHU in this special sakura festival falls into the free-ticket-grabbing-activity on line.

There are about 1,000 sakura trees in more than ten varieties distributing almost everywhere in the main campus, especially in Ying Yuan, around administrative building and by the sakura road.

The beautiful flowers decorate the campus like a nice pink paradise in March every year, which also promote the city’s economic development. Although it brings lots of benefits, our university still needs to make rules to ensure the normal operation of teaching and research work.
