(Reporter:Yijia Sun, Kanghua Yang)On the evening of March 30th, the lecture on women's health with the theme of "I am a girl" was held successfully. Yanqiong Ouyang -- the associate professor from School of Health in our university delivered the lecture attended by female students from all grades.
The lecture focused on "Knowing Girls" and "Girls VS Egg Donation".
First of all, in the session of "Knowing Girls", Yanqiong Ouyang introduced the female body composition with the theory of natural selection around the theme of "individual differences", eliminating our female students’ doubts about their own bodies from a scientific perspective. In her opening remarks, taking the two social phenomena of "getting sick in swimming" and "having children or not" as examples, she bring home to our female students the importance of caring ourselves. In the lecture, when she actively interacted with our female students, Yanqiong Ouyang stressed that we should abandon all kinds of the potential and immature ideas in mind, leading the female students to pay more attention to their physical characteristics and phenomena from a more scientific perspective.
In addition to introducing the structure and function of each part of the female body, she also focused on the analysis of the female cognition about these aspects. In fact, what she tried to convey to us was the awareness of the necessity and significance of the healthy and mature consciousness and the scientific cognition.
After a brief questionnaire survey, the "Girls VS Egg Donation" session began. For a variety of reasons such as late childbirth, changes in living environment and lifestyle, low ovarian function, tumor and other diseases, infertility has become the third largest disease after tumor and cardiovascular disease, causing the fact that the supply of eggs is in short supply, Yanqiong Ouyang explained. Compared with blood donation, bone marrow donation and sperm donation, in her opinion, egg donation has the same essence if it's for the public good. But egg donation is a health issue, given the complex process involved. And it has profound effects on the body, such as premature ovarian failure, infertility and so on. What’s more, there is no legal guarantee for egg donation which is just regarded as an act of humanity.
At the end of the lecture, Yanqiong Ouyang called on the girls present at lecture to remember that what they were supposed to do was just to cherish their bodies and health, avoid falling into the trap set by the lawbreakers, and avoid leaving endless troubles to their reputation, health and ethics as well. We also hope that our female students will cherish themselves to a greater extent in the future.
