On April 2, the meeting about solving students’ problems was held in our school, which was hosted by Yu Haonan, vice president of the Student Union. Wang Siming, deputy secretary, Xiao Xiaohui, vice dean, and teachers in faculty’s office attended the meeting.

At the beginning, students asked Mr. Wang some questions, like how to stimulate students’ learning enthusiasm and how to let students go out for physical exercises. Mr. Wang analyzed questions and gave detailed answers. He thought making relevant knowledge available is important for students to learn, and lack of exercise has become an urgent problem for college students, which can be solved by holding various activities with reward to encourage more students to participate.

Then, a student asked Prof. Xiao about how to combine theoretical learning with practical learning. Prof. Xiao said that our teachers have been already trying to solve this problem by take some lab equipments into classroom to make better understanding for theories. And Prof. Xiao also told students a good news that our school will offer a course about the application of computer graphics software on mechanical drawing in the third semester.

After that students raised questions about hot water using and power supply in the dorm, which will be reflected to relevant department of our university, Mr. Wang said. Besides, students also wanted to know why not take CET-4 in the freshman year. The reason is that more time can be offered to students to prepare for the test and passing rate will be higher if taking the test on grade 2 or 3, Mr. Wang explained.

The purpose of this meeting is to give students an opportunity to reflect their problems and find appropriate ways to solve them, which can improve learning and living environment for them. We believe that our campus life will become better and better through the joint effort of students and teachers.
