Annoying catkins

(Edited by Yang Liu, Jiahui Cheng)After a freezing and long winter, spring returns to the earth. And as temperature rises, London Planes are also ready to spread their seed to breed, which leads to a situation that some people feel quiet disturbed because the seed which is known as “catkins” brings on sneezing attacks some people.

It is commonly acknowledged that allergy is one of the six chronic diseases in the world, and there are many complications such as sneezing, wheezing, running nose and itchy eyes. When it comes to allergy, it seems that people are more or less allergic. The reason is that we all suffer pressure and our immune system is also not so perfect. Therefore it is certainly a hard season for some people since the catkin is a sort of allergen. In spite of the fact that the London Planes can bring more green to our school and absorb impurities in air, for me, it is more like a demon since I have sneezed and nose bleeding for almost two weeks, and the experience is really painful.

Although the catkin can induce allergy, there are also some suggestions you can adopt to diminish the pain. First of all, you’d better wear a mask to prevent the catkins entering you nose or mouth, which can greatly reduce your risk of allergies. Furthermore, if you’ve already started sneezing, using normal saline to wash your nose a few times can bring the catkins out and make you feel better. Last but not least, if you still sneeze and even start to have a runny nose, just go to hospital and have some medicine. Do not rubbing the nose and your eyes, if not, you will feel much painful.

Generally speaking, the London Planes are playing a vital role in our daily life, and the golden leaves in fall are also very impressive and gorgeous. As far as I’m concerned, the only thing we are supposed to do is avoiding the allergy together to fully enjoy the spring!
