(Reporter: Longlong Li; Editor: Ang Xiao) On May 23th, the second plenary session of the 20th Student Congress of SPME(School of Power and Mechanical Engineering) was held successfully in Room 403 of No.10 Teaching Building. During the session, new Presidium of Student Union was elected.
At the beginning, after all the attending people standing up and singing the national anthem, our Party Committee secretary gave a speech to congratulate in advance on the success of this election campaign.
Afterwards, five candidates for Presidium of Student Union did presentation one after another to compete for the chairmanship. Xiao Kangjian put forward a plan to improve the Student Union. He said that if he could be a member of the Presidium, he would try his best to enhance the union construction and shoulder the burden of serving students. Others also gave their own plan about how to carry out works for students as a member of the Presidium. After listening for their passionate speeches, the student representatives issued their opinions and voted to elect a new presidium.
Mr. Wang, the vice secretary of the party committee in our school, gave a speech to conclude the achievements that the student union has reached. He said that last year they had made numerous and fruitful improvements such as retrenching the departments of the Union and broadening channels of protection rights. Ten minutes later, the votes were counted out and the new Presidium formed, members of which are Zhao Wu, Xiao Kangjian, Zhou Zhucen, and Li Jiamin. Finally, with the host declaring and the audiences applauding, the 20th Student Congress of SPME came to an end.
