Wu Ping, female, was born in February 1962 in Huanggang, Hubei province. With a master's degree and a Ph.D. degree, she entered the workforce in July 1983. Currently, she is a member of the standing committee of the CPC Committee of Wuhan University, the vice-president, a professor as well as doctoral supervisor.

From September 1979 to July 1983, Wu studied as a library science major student in Wuhan University and got her bachelor’s degree. From July 1983 to June 2012, she taught at the school of Information Management of Wuhan University, during which she served as the vice dean of the department and the secretary of CPC Branch. Wu got her doctoral degree of science in July 1996 and was promoted to professor in October 2002. From June 1998 to October 2000, she was the deputy director of academic affairs of Wuhan University. From October 2000 to July 2002, she served as the chief of education and research section of education department of Wuhan University. From July 2002 to January 2004, she was the deputy director of education department of Wuhan University. From January 2004 to June 2012, she was the director of education department of Wuhan University. From June 2012 to August 2019, she was a member of the standing committee of the CPC committee and vice President of Huazhong Agricultural University; she has been a member of the standing committee of the party committee and vice president of Wuhan University since August 2019.

Wu is the author of more than 130 academic papers on editing and publishing science, bibliography, book review studies, editorial thought research, higher education research and other fields in domestic authoritative and core public publications, and has published 12  books;the History of Chinese editorial thought edited by Wu Ping fills in the blank of Chinese editing theory, and pioneered a new field for the construction of editorial and publishing science theory; Wu has presided over 17 projects, including the ones supported by national social science fund and others. She is the recipient of the first and second prizes for national teaching competition; the first prize for social science research award of Hubei province; the first and second prizes for excellent teaching achievements of Hubei province; the outstanding young female faculty of Hubei province; the grand prize for outstanding teaching achievement of Wuhan University, and 16th graduate student teaching and educating award of Huazhong Agricultural University, etc.

Professional Affiliations: Vice President of Editing and Publishing Research Committee of the Chinese Association for History of Journalism and Mass Communication (CAHJC); the sixth vice chairman of Education Committee of China Association of Agricultural Science Societies (CAASS).
