Dr. X. Chris Le, a graduate from Wuhan University in 1983, won the University Cup which is the highest honor of UA in October, 2018. The president of UA did the award presentation.
Founded in 1908, University of Alberta is one of the original members of the U15 Group of Canadian Research Universities, the Top 5 Canadian University and one of the Top 100 in the world.The University Cup is the highest honor bestowed by UA on a member of the academic staff and is awarded only to individuals who have achieved outstanding distinction in each of the areas of scholarly research, teaching, and service to the university and the community at large. Recipients of the University Cup is a leader whose scholarly work has merited international attention, whose teaching and student supervision ability is highly esteemed by colleagues and students alike as exceptional, and who has earned outstanding regard from the community which favours both the individual and the university.
Dr. X. Chris Le is a Fellow of the Academy of Science of the Royal Society off Canada, a chief scientist in Bio-Analytical Technology and Environmental Health in Canada, a Distinguished University Professor of Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology and the Director of the Analytical and Environmental Toxicology Division at University of Alberta.
Dr. Le received his undergraduate degree from Wuhan University(1979-1983), M.Sc. degree from Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences from Chinese Academy of Sciences (1983-1986) and Ph.D. in Environmental/Analytical Chemistry from the University of British Columbia. Dr. Le has made outstanding achievements in fields of damage and repair of DNA, interactions between medicine and protein, speciation and metabolization of microelement and effect of environmental toxicants to health. He has published over 200 dissertations in Science, Nature Commun., PNAS, Angew. Chem., JACS, Anal. Chem. and Environ. Sci. Technol.
