Established in 1988 by The Royal Society and National Academy of Sciences in European countries, Academia Europaea is also called the European Academy of Humanities and Natural Sciences with its headquarters in London. It is one of the most extensive and influential scientific organizations internationally across geographic and academic fields with the highest academic status, with 23 subordinate departments, including humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and science and technology. The academicians of Academia Europaea come from 35 European countries, mainly elected from academicians of the National Academy of Sciences in European countries, representing scientific elites and academic authorities. Its foreign academicians are scientists who closely cooperate with Europe. Since its establishment, about 5,500 members of the Academia Europaea (MAE) have been elected, including nearly 90 Nobel laureates.
