On April 1, students from Wuhan University won the Award of Best Written Memorandum for Respondent in the 28th Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot (Vis Moot), standing out from 385 teams from all over the world, becoming the only winner from mainland Chineseuniversitiesfrom Chinesemainland, showing the best performance of any mainland Chinese teamfrom Chinesemainland in the Vis Moot in recent years. Compared to former competitions like Vis East Moot, in which Wuhan University also won the Best Written Memorandum for Claimant, there were more competitive teams in Vis Moot with higher pressure on participants.
Best Written Memorandum for Respondent in the 28th Vis Moot
As international competitions, the scale and influence of Vis (East) Moot and Vis Moot are larger than domestic competitions like the Cietac Cup International Commercial Arbitration Moot. The two competitions have attracted universities from over 80 countries and regions around the world, such as Peking University, Harvard University and the National University of Singapore. At the same time, due to the language gap and material limitation, few universities from Chinese mainland have won written memorandum awards in the Vis Moot over the years. However, students from WHU still delivered a satisfactory result, which is the result of the hard work of the team members and the guidance of mentors from WHU. Due to the COVID-19 prevention and control policy, the Vis (East) Moot and Vis Moot were held online.
