On 29 June, Professor Wu Dan, the ASIS&T (Association for Information Science and Technology) Asia-Pacific Regional Conference Chairman-nominee from the School of Information Management of WHU, was elected as one of the eight new Directors-at-Large by an absolute majority in the ASIS&T 2020 Board of Directors election. Wu is also the first Director-at-Large from Chinese mainland since the ASIS&T was established more than 80 years ago.
Wu has long been engaged in information retrieval, human-computer interaction and other fields, committed to promoting and elevating China’s library and information science to the international academic stage. She has been a member of the ACM Digital Library Committee, the iSchool Data Science Curriculum Committee and the ACM/IEEE Joint Conference on Digital Library Steering Committee. Wu is also the chief editor of the Aslib Journal of International Management, a well-known SSCI Journal on library and information science, an influential journal in the international academic circle.
The ASIS&T was established in the United States in 1937. After more than 80 years’ development, it brings together scholars and researchers from library science, information management science, computer science, data science, etc. It has become one of the most influential international academic organizations in fields like library and information science and greatly promoted the development and application of this subject around the world.
