Wuhan University’s Institute of Medicine was founded in order to integrate academic and clinical medicine while improving the quality of medical education. On May 12th, Shu Hongbing was appointed the Institute’s director.
Shu Hongbing explained that the Institute provides a significant platform to achieve medical advances. He expressed that he found the task a great responsibility and would undertake to help the Institute make numerous practical achievements.
Feng Youmei, WHU’s Executive President, advised that for the Institute to succeed, it needed to take advantage of WHU’s strong research capabilities while utilizing a team of highly competent experts.
Han Jin, the secretary of WHU’s Party Committee mentioned that to develop the Institute of Medicine, we need to seize the opportunity and to seek common ground while reserving differences and to pursue efficiency.
The Institute of Medicine has been under development since the second half of 2013. It brings together a team of principal investigators, research assistances, postdoctoral fellows and technical staff all trained to international standards.
