He put forward three goals: to receive more exchange students in a better academic environment; to establish a forum between the Consulate General and students and academics studying in France to enhance Sino-France cultural communication; to deepen WHU’s cooperation with the Alliance Francaise to  strength French language training.

Consul General Martinet praised WHU-France record of collaboration in education. At present, Wuhan city is developing as a Sino-France sustainable development city and the Consulate would like to expand the number of collaborative fields. He hoped that WHU will establish partnerships with more French universities while developing more projects with current partners. He also encourage WHU students to study in France.

WHU-France cooperation has a history of over 30 years since the signing of cultural exchange agreement between China and France in 1979. WHU is one of the leading universities with regard to WHU-France student exchange. WHU-France cooperation covers talent training, faculty mobility and scientific research cooperation. In 2006, the then France President Jacques Chirac praised WHU as a model for Sino-France cooperation.
