Thailand Ambassador to China Visits WHU

On March 4th, a delegation, led by the Thailand Ambassador to China, H.E. Mr.Wiboon Khusakul, paid a visit to Wuhan University. The delegation was also accompanied by Zhang Xiaomei, Hubei Province Foreign Affairs Office deputy director. WHU Executive President Feng Youmei received the guest in a meeting in which Gong Jianya, a member of Chinese Academy of Sciences and the director of the State Key Laboratory of Remote Sensing and Information Engineering, and other leaders from relevant departments also attended.


Feng Youmei warmly welcomed the delegation. She said WHU has received Thai students since 1987 and WHU has for a long time maintained a close relationship with education institutions in Thailand. Executive President Feng explained that WHU puts a premium on developing cooperation with institutions in education and technology. She expressed gratitude to Thai government in their joint effort for the establishment and development of Sirindhorn International Center for Geoinformatics and explained how it fit this model of technological cooperation. Executive President Feng ended her speech by conveying her hope of further cooperation and looked forward to the visit by Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn during her visit in China.


H.E. Mr.Wiboon Khusakul explained that Princess Sirindhorn planned to visit China in April and WHU was an important stop on her itinerary. During the meeting, WHU and the Thai delegation planned out the details of her visit. Professor Gong Jianya also gave a speech introducing to the development of Sirindhorn International Center for Geoinformatics.


After the meeting, the delegation visited the Sirindhorn International Center for Geoinformatics located in the East Lake New Technology Development Zone.
