University College Dublin delegation visits Wuhan University

On November 21, a delegation from University College Dublin (UCD) visited Wuhan University (WHU). Tang Qizhu, vice president of WHU, met with Professor Dolores O’ Riordan, vice president of UDC, and her delegation. Representatives from the Hongyi Honor College, School of Philosophy, School of Law, School of History, School of Political Science and Public Administration, School of Information Management, Economics and Management School, and the Office of International Affairs attended the meeting.


At the meeting, Tang Qizhu warmly welcomed the delegation from UCD. He highlighted the longstanding relationships between Wuhan University and Irish universities, including UCD. In June of this year, Wuhan University sent a delegation to visit UCD, paving the way for renewed cooperation in the humanities and social sciences. Tang emphasized the strong similarities and complementarities between the two institutions in terms of key disciplines and development goals, and the broad prospects for collaboration. He looked forward to reaching further agreement on cooperation to lay the foundation for strengthening scientific research cooperation and personnel exchanges.

Dolores O. Riordan warmly congratulated Wuhan University on its forthcoming 130th anniversary and offered a brief overview of UCD’s key disciplines and education. She expressed her eagerness to strengthen academic exchanges with WHU in the humanities and social sciences, through short-term student exchanges, and joint undergraduate and graduate training programs, opening up new ground for bilateral cooperation in more areas.

Following the discussions, the two sides engaged in fruitful dialogue and agreed on specific areas of cooperation.

University College Dublin is a public research university located in Dublin, Ireland. Founded in 1854, it is one of the four members of the Irish National University system. The university has over 38,000 students, including nearly 11,000 international students. It has six colleges and 38 schools[1] . In the latest QS ranking for 2024, UCD ranks 171th with its Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School among the top 100 globally.
