On June 20th, Huang Bihai, a doctoral student from the College of Chemistry and Molecular Sciences of Wuhan University was selected as one of the 10 Chinese Students of the Year at the 2011 award ceremony in the Great Hall of the People, Beijing. He was the only winner from Hubei Province.

Huang Bihai attracted the public’s attention, because he sacrificed the opportunity to study abroad in order to take care of his comatose mother. Miraculously, his mother awoke. His moving story was praised by the press.

The Chinese Student of the Year, an activity started in 2005, is designed as a platform to publicize the good deeds of students and has evolved into an influential and innovative activity for encouraging university students to develop strong moral character.
