Gui Xien Won the Third Annual Jingzhong Prize

On December 12th, Professor Gui Xien, from Wuhan University’s Zhongnan hospital, won the International Treatment and Preparedness Coalition (ITPC China)  third annual Jingzhong Awardfor his special contribution to the struggle against AIDS. 

The Jingzhong Prize was established in 2009, by people who devoted their careers towards the treatment of people infected with HIV. The prize rewards government departments, medical workers, and international organizations in the PRC that have made outstanding contributions to the improvement of AIDS treatments, the wellbeing of AIDS patients and community awareness about AIDS.

Gui Xien is one of the founders of the AIDS prevention and control area.  He was the first doctor to grow concerned about the AIDS epidemic in the Central Plains of China and took the lead in opposing discrimination against HIV positive people. In recent years, Gui Xien has helped countless HIV patients and continually advocated for their wellbeing and treatment.
