On February 18th, University of Aberdeen’s Vice-Principal Seth Kunin and Confucius Institute co-director Barbara Fennell came to visit Wuhan University where they were received by President Li Xiaohong and Executive President Feng Youmei.

In the meeting, Li Xiaohong expressed his admiration for Aberdeen’s idyllic landscape and long history. He maintained that WHU and UA share a special relationship, like brother universities, and President Li wished to see more WHU students pursue studies in Aberdeen, while further strengthening cooperation between the two universities.

Feng Youmei later discussed a new sinology program, a scholarship program for foreign students and an international education school program with the delegation. She added that the jointly founded Confucius Institute could provide a forum for other new collaborative work.

Seth Kunin added that he put premium on bilateral cooperation and saw the chance of developing cooperation in sociology, medicine and life sciences with WHU.

The University of Aberdeen was established in 1495 and is U.K.’s fifth oldest university. It is well known for its long history, historical buildings and innovative research. In September, 2013, a Confucius Institute jointly founded by WHU and UA was launched in Aberdeen.
