Professor Lu Yuanan Wins the Chime Prize

On September 29th, 2014, Professor Lu Yuanan was awarded the Chime Prize for his contribution in building a bridge of communication and exchange between Wuhan University(WHU) and University of Hawaii(UH), or rather, promoting the public health education of China and America.

Lu Yuanan is the director of the environment and health discipline of WHU’s Global Health Institute and the head of UH’s environment and health laboratory. For 8 years, he has been dedicated to the cause of promoting the cooperation between UH and WHU and made great effort to improve the development of China’s public health education. He carried out a number of research projects such as water environment, health and the air quality of Hubei Province. He helped WHU’s School of Public Health set up the first undergraduate program of global health in China and cultivate a large number of talents in public health.

The Chime Prize, is the greatest honor a foreign expert can receive in Hubei Province, and was set up in 1994 to award foreign experts for their outstanding contribution to the economic construction and social development of Hubei Province. Since its establishment, 210 experts from 23 countries of Asia, Europe, America and Oceania have won the prize successively. This year 11 excellent experts working in Hubei Province received this honor.
