An orientation for international exchange students was held at the auditorium in the College of Foreign Students Education on the 16th of October. Officers from Office of International Affairs and the College of Foreign Students Education met with new international students. Issues regarding the registration, visa and dormitory, etc. were discussed during the activity.

According to Mr. Xing, an officer from the Office of International Affairs of WHU, 90 international exchange students registered at WHU this semester. They come from 11 different countries, and most of them will study Chinese language, economics and laws in the next 6 or 12 months.

"I really like the campus, the fact that we are in a wide area and close to a lake. I love the food in Wuhan. It's different from the French meals back home. I think Chinese people are really nice, and it's easy to meet and make friends." said Clara, one of the new international exchange students during the orientation. Her university in France enjoys a partnership with WHU, so she has gained the opportunity to study Chinese and marine law in WHU now. She has 20 hours of Chinese language course, which she thought was intensive and helpful.

He Zizhang is a Chinese-Japanese boy who has just started his new semester at WHU. At 8 years old, he moved to Japan with his family, and now he feels excited to return to China and take courses at WHU. Chinese students are very active and say what they want to say. This does not always happen in Japan.

Zizhang's Japanese friend, Ishizaki Risato, also spoke highly of the local people: I can make friends very easily here. The students are open-minded and kind. When I go to the cafeteria and to the supermarkets, the staff is really nice and they are always teaching me Chinese, so I'm so happy to come here.

International exchange students are starting a new journey to learn Chinese language, to experience different cultures and to widen their horizons at WHU. And the university is also well prepared to welcome more foreign students.
