Foreign diplomats visit Wuhan University

On 18th October, Luojia Hill welcomes a special foreign diplomat delegation. This twenty-seven-member delegation, headed by H.E Imad Moustapha, Syria ambassador to China, comprises ambassadors to China, ministers and counselors from Syria, Bengal, Slovenia, Laos, Albania, Costa Rica, Burundi, Panama, Cyprus, Montenegro, Dominica, South Sudan, Fiji, Niger, Micronesia, Russia, Chad and Italy,  directors from International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, and Secretariat of ASEAN-China Centre.

At 2:00 p.m, Vice President Li Fei met with the delegation at the reception hall of Wuhan University’s History Museum. Under the guidance of the interpreter, the delegation visited the museum and were introduced the history and development of Wuhan University through a century. Then, they went upstairs at the sightseeing stand, where they looked afar into the autumn charm around the Luojia Hill and appreciated the unique architecture complex on campus which perfectly integrated the ancient Chinese glamour and western enchantment.

During the visit, the delegation also met the international students from their countries and had intimate communication with them. “I am deeply attracted by the beautiful sights around the campus, the natural beauty. Also, its international horizon equally impressed me a lot and I am looking forward to further cooperation in education between our two countries,” said H.E. Francisco C. Escobar P., Panama ambassador to China, also the first ambassador since the establishment of diplomatic relation between China and Panama in 2017.

Liu Yunfei, the volunteer interpreter from School of Foreign Languages and Literature, said “when I was showing them around, some ambassadors told me that Wuhan University is the most charming university they have ever visited in China. As a WHUer, I am really proud to hear such remarks!”

It is reported that the delegation’s visit to Hubei Province is at the invitation of Forum on Global Production Capacity and Business Cooperation held in Wuhan, which is co-sponsored by National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China and Hubei Provincial Government. Wuhan University is their third stop in Wuhan.
