WHU Won the First Three Prizes in International Image Analysis and Data Fusion Contest

On May 28th, teams from Wuhan University won the top 3 prizes and also secured the 5th and the 6th places of the International Image Analysis and Data Fusion Contest held by IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers).

This year’s competition, under the theme of multi-resolution and multi-level fusion of near-infrared spectrum and aerial images, attracted 42 research teams around the world, among which 5 of them were led by Zhang Liangpei, Huang Xin, Zhang Hongyan, Zhong Yanfei from WHU’s National Key Laboratory of remote sensing and information engineering.

The International Image Analysis and Data Fusion Contest is an annually held contest on difficulties of data fusion. The top 10 winners include America Oak Ridge National Laboratory, MIT Lincoln Laboratory, University of Tennessee, Ghent University, etc. The awarding ceremony will be held on International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium.

IEEE is currently the largest academic association in the world and was merged by Institute of Electrical Engineers and the Institute of Radio Engineers of the United States in 1963. IEEE Geoscience & Remote Sensing Society (IEEE GRSS), attached to IEEE, is the most active, influential association that enjoys the greatest number of members.
