A day in the Cherry Blossom Garden Dormitory

Wang Dangui is a doctoral student of the School of History, studying under the instruction of Prof. Hu Dekun, an expert in the history of international relations. Since her first day herein 2016, Wang has been living in the Dormitoryof Cherry Blossom Garden .

After Wuhan University was relocatedatLuojia Mountain in the 1930s, this building has been the dormitory for male students for most of the time. During 2015 to 2016, the dorm was renovated with the installment of advanced facilities including central air conditioning and intelligent electricity management systems. Now, it is accommodating doctoral students.

The window opens a new day. Facing south, Wang’s room in the Cherry Blossom Garden iswell lighted. 

However, noises from the Cherry Blossom Avenue could be heardfrom time to time.

“It can be really noisy at peak hours, and it really bothers our life.” Wang’s roommate complains.

Wang was hanging up her laundry in the spacious corridor of the dormitory. 

There is also a patio downstairs for airing quilts.

The cleaninglady cleans the public area at 9 am every day.

In the morning, Wang plansto read theses in the dormitory.

Wang isreading in bed at lunch break. After a nap, she would head to the library to search for somereading materials.

Theentrance guardsystem blocks the entrance ofthe curioustouristspassingby.

There is a Wechat group for the doctoral students living here, and each supervisor of dorm takes turn to take on duty for students’ daily issues.

After students' departureduringsummer or winter vacation, a paper strip will be attached to the door until they return.

The night fallannounces the end ofa day'shard work. 

Wang is gettingup the stairs back to the dorm.

 Her journey in Wuhan University is to continue.
