About the Lecturer

Professor Zhou Hongcai received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Texas A&M University in 2000. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Sciences and a Fellow of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor F. A. Cotton. He then followed the post-doctoral research of Professor R. H. Holm, a member of the American Academy of Sciences at Harvard University. In 2002, he was employed by the University of Miami. In 2008, he was a professor at Texas A&M University in the United States. In 2015, he served as the chief chemist of the Welch Foundation. He is currently the Director of the Texas A&M Electrochemistry and Hydrogen Research Center and the Chairman of the Interdisciplinary Academic Committee of the Energy Agency. Since 2013, he has been the deputy editor of inorganic chemistry in the journal of inorganic chemistry. In 2016, he was elected a Fellow of the American Chemical Society, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, and a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He has received the American Natural Science Foundation CAREER Award, the Cottrell Scholar Award, the DOE Hydrogen Program Special Recognition Award, as part of the Hydrogen Adsorption Center of Excellence, the Air Products Faculty Excellence Award and the Outstanding Research Achievement Award, etc.

Professor Zhou Hongcai's research focuses on the design, synthesis of MOFs and its application in gas adsorption, separation and catalysis. He has published more than 280 papers, of which more than 150 papers have been published in the Nature series (Nature Chemistry, Nature). Communication), Cell Press series (Chem, Joule, Matter), JACS (American Chemical Society) and Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. (German Applied Chemistry) and other internationally renowned academic journals. He was named a highly cited scholar by Thomson Reuters for the fifth consecutive year in 2014-2018,whose article was cited more than 38,000 times.
