WHU Delegation Visits U.S. to Recruit and Develop DeeperTies

From April 15th to 22rd, a delegation headed by Wuhan University Executive President Feng Youmei visited the United States. The delegation attended a Duke Kunshan University board meeting at Duke University, visited Ohio State University, discussed healthcare at Project Hope, and held numerous recruitment meetings.

During the visit, the delegation meet with the president of Duke University, Richard Brodhead, and along with Kunshan city officials, jointly discussed Duke Kunshan University’s establishment, development plan, and cooperation programs between Wuhan University and Duke University.

At Ohio State University, the delegation met with Vice Provost William Brusteinand Associate Provost for global strategies KelechiKalu. The two sides reviewed their cooperation over the past 3 decades and planned future ways to widen faculty and student exchange and strengthen research collaboration.

At the Project Hope Headquarters, a renowned international health care NGO, the delegation met with executive vice-president Mike Maves and discussed nursing education reform, aids prevention training, children's oral diseases prevention and government project grants. They expressed hope to expand their cooperation to cover global health, residency training, children health service, health system development and medical staff training.

The delegation held recruitment fairs in Columbus, Washington and Chicago and met with more than 50 potential applicants who were very positive about working at WHU and have applied for Chinese national and local recruitment programs to conduct research and teaching.

Before visiting the U.S., Feng Youmei met with Professor Renslow Sherer from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine and they renewed a five-year cooperative agreement between their respective universities on medical education reform.
