On Oct. 24th, 2011, a delegation headed by Prof. James N. Siedow, Vice Provost for Research of Duke University visited WHU. Vice President Zhou Chuangbing received the delegation and gave a detailed introduction about WHU including general characteristics, strong disciplines, achievements on scientific research, and international ranking. The representatives from Office of Research Support and International Office attended the meeting.

Vice President Zhou Chuangbing briefly summarized the characteristics of WUH into five sentences: one of the oldest universities in Chinese modern higher education history; genuine comprehensive university with complete disciplines; one of the most internationalized universities in western and central part of China; a university with large scale; one of the most beautiful campuses in China. VP Zhou pointed out that the joint venture established by WHU and Duke University is a milestone during the whole process of university development, and the cooperation will extremely enhance the international reputation of WHU and accelerate the internationalization of WHU. Prof. Li Pingxiang, the director of Office of Research Support, gave a presentation on WHU’s scientific research findings, awards as well as the selection of Chinese academicians.

As of the collaboration between WHU and Duke University, 5 senior executives visited WHU, and Public Health School has facilitated students exchange programs and co-established Global Health Center with Duke University.
