WHU Delegation Visited Universities in Taiwan

A visit to a number of universities in Taiwan was made by President Xiaohong Li during September 29th to October 5th, 2011. President Li signed agreements with  Taiwan University of Science and Technology, Chung Shan Medical University,  Taiwan Normal University,Yunlin University of Science and Technology, and explored the possibility to broaden the exchange and cooperation with Cheng Kung University.

During the visit Xiaohong Li signed institutional exchange agreements with President Shi_Shuenn Chen of Taiwan University of Science and Technology and President Te_Jen Lai of Chung Shan Medical University, President Kuo_en Chang of Taiwan Normal University, and President Yeong_Bin Yang of Yunlin University of Science and Technology. Student exchange agreements also signed with the latter two universities.

The delegation attended the “2011 Cross-Strait Forum on Climate Change and Development of Sustainable Energy”, which is a high level academic exchange event initiated in 2005 by scholars of energy and environment from across the Strait and alternately hosted by a university of from mainland or Taiwan each year. There have been 13 members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering, 20 university presidents and 300 scholars from both sides of the Strait. It was determined by the Joint Board of the Forum that the event of 2012 will be held by Wuhan University.

President Xiaohong Li also met with Ms.Chiu_Hwa Wang, daughter of former Wuhan University President Shih-Chieh Wang as well as architect in Taiwan, and Mr. Han_Li  Chang, representative of WHU alumni in Taiwan, and visited part of the exchange students there from WHU. He briefly introduced the latest development of the university, and the vision of building an art museum for the 120th Anniversary of WHU in 2013. He sincerely invited all participants to attend the ceremony then. Ms. Chiu_Hwa Wang expressed her suggestion on the art museum.
