ROK’S Consul General in Wuhan Visited WHU

On May 26, Mr. Ohm Ki-sung, consul general of the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea (ROK) in Wuhan visited WHU. President Li Xiaohong received the guests in the main administrative building, and both sides exchanged ideas on prospective cooperation.

Mr. Ohm Ki-sung expressed his gratitude for the warm reception he received at WHU. During the meeting, he said that South Korea and central China have great potential for development in the future and the opening of the consulate revealed South Korea's great attention to central China, and he proposed that WHU, as one of leading universities in central China, play its due role in promoting ties between Hubei Province and South Korea in trade and culture by such initiatives as offering an undergraduate program of Korean Language, setting up an institute studying Korean economics and culture.

Li Xiaohong positively responded to Mr. Ohm's proposals, saying that WHU, with serving the local community in mind, will fully consider the feasibility of his proposals. Both sides also compared notes on how to encourage exchange between South Korea and central China.

Vice-President Li Fei, and representatives from the School of Economics and Management and the International Office attended the meeting.

The Consulate General of the ROK in Wuhan opened in October 25, 2010 which is South Korea's first consulate general in central China and its eighth in China. Issuing visas is one of the consulate's services.
