President Li Led a Delegation to Thailand Sirindhorn Research Center Opening Ceremony
On March 20th, President Li Xiaohong and CAS and CAE member Li Deren of Wuhan University led a delegation to Thailand to attend the inaugural ceremony of the Sirindhorn Geomatics International Research Center Thailand Base.
President Li offered Princess Sirindhorn models of Tiangong-1 and Chang’e-3 as gifts, and accompanied her as she was appreciating the various Geomatics exhibits, such as a 3D display of the Wuhan Base and one of the Thailand Base of Sirindhorn Center using “heaven and earth graph” technology, as well as models of Long March rockets created by WHU.
Princess Sirindhorn visited WHU on April 10th, 2007 and signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation, which aimed at establishing the Sirindhorn Goematics International Research Center in both China and Thailand. On April 9th 2013, Sirindhorn revisited WHU to attend the opening ceremony of the center based at WHU. After the establishment of the center, WHU cooperated with GISTDA in carrying out scientific research, personnel training and holding international conferences, which will certainly deepen the Sino-Thai collaboration on Geomatics.
