WHU Engineering Science lists ESI top 1‰

According to the latest data from ESI on May 9th, Engineering Science in WHU has listed top 1‰ in the world for the first time. So far, WHU’s Engineering Science department has published 3732 papers and they have been cited over 28836 times in total, ranking 139 out of 1420 institutions of ESI Engineering Science. This is the second ESI top 1‰ discipline in Wuhan University after chemistry.

In terms of discipline ranking, 17 disciplines in WHU rank top 1% in the world, including Chemistry (84th), Material Science (89th) and Computer Science (86th). Material Science, Clinical Medicine, Computer Science, Earth Science, Biology and Biochemistry, Pharmacology and Toxicology, and Social Science list at top 5‰ in ESI. Earth science, Social Science, Pharmacology and Toxicology, Biology and Biochemistry have all progressed, indicating a constantly increasing academic influence.

From the perspective of All Fields, in May 2019, there has been a total number of 5,864 ESI top 1% institutions worldwide, 262 of which are in mainland China. Wuhan University is ranking the 321st place as a member of global top 1‰. . WHU’s rankings of all fields have enjoyed a steady improvement since January 2015 when ranked global top 1‰ for the first time (470th in January 2015, 446th in January 2016, 423rd in January 2017, 385th in January 2018 and 342nd in January 2019), presenting a promising development trend.

The 17 disciplines ranking at top 1% in ESI are: Chemical, Engineering Science, Material Science, Clinical Medicine, Computer Science, Earth Science, Biology and Biochemistry, Pharmacology and Toxicology, Social Science, Botany and Zoology, Environment Science and Ecology, Agricultural Science, Molecular Biology and Genetics, Physical, Microbiology, Immunology, Mathematics.
