The Covid-19 which wreaked havoc around the world in 2020 is hampering face-to-face communication. Keeping social distance and reducing crowds gathering have become a new fashion. To strengthen cultural exchanges in the new world situation, innovative the forms of cultural activities, and support the construction of Confucius Institute, Wuhan University has prepared a gala--2021 International Online Spring Festival Gala of Wuhan University, and made it into a video. It has taken 3 months to finish the planning, rehearsal, recording and post-production of the whole gala. And the performers are all students and faculty members of Wuhan University. The 2021 New Year’s gala lasts for one hour and consists of 10 wonderful programs, including performances with Chinese characteristics -- Dance: Pay lunar new year’s call, Song: The Yellow Crane Tower, and so on, as well as programs with characteristics of other countries--Beethoven: Symphony No.5 in c minor, Op.67: I. Allegro con brio, Song: Auld Lang Syne. etc. In the video, faculty members and students of Wuhan University are seen in front of several landmarks on campus, wishing everyone a happy and healthy New Year in different languages.
The video of 2021 Spring Festival Gala of Wuhan University has been produced into three versions, with subtitles implanted in French, German and English, and sent to the three Confucius Institutes hosted by Wuhan University, namely the Confucius Institute of the University of Paris, the Metropolis Ruhr Confucius Institute of Duisburg-Essen University and the Confucius Institute at the University of Aberdeen to broadcast on local platforms.
