The morning of May 7 saw Wuhan University’s eighth Ethnic Culture Festival take hold at Guiyuan Playground. Students came in high spirits and with souvenir cards in hand, ready to enjoy the colorful range of Chinese ethnic culture, a treat for eyes and ears alike.
This year’s Ethnic Cultural Festival was themed “Tribute to WHU’s 130th anniversary, Playing the spectacular music of unity”. The venue was divided into three thematic zones: ‘The 20th CPC National Congress’, ‘Forging a sense of Chinese national identity’ and ‘WHU’s 130th anniversary celebration’. The three themes were combined with quiz activities to achieve a perfect combination of learning and fun.
In the ethnic culture exhibition area, visitors could experience various ethnic cultures with their special characteristics, and enjoy ethnic costumes and a wide range of handicrafts. The festival also offered a wide variety of delicious ethnic foods to spice up visitors’ experiences. All the cuisine made available presented the crystallization of culture and history, such as lamb kebab, buttered tea, special cooked wheaten food and so on, all of which will leave a pleasant aftertaste.
Apart from the exhibition of cultures, fabulous performances were also staged, including dancing, singing, and instrumental shows performed by handsome youngsters and beautiful girls from various ethnic groups. Marked by rich ethnic characteristics and offering a cultural atmosphere, these performances not only allowed people to indulge in pleasures but also brought them excellent and surprising experiences.
Besides, the event also provided opportunities for interaction and direct contact with the art team to let visitors feel the charm of culture and art. The feast served as a fantastic opportunity for visitors to communicate with friends of different ethnic backgrounds and share their distinctive culture with others. Whether you are interested in learning about traditional culture or pursuing a brand new experience, this festival was an unforgettable event for everyone.
A fun games area was set up near the stage and audience section. Here, guided by staff, visitors were able to take part in games and compete for the souvenir medal ‘master of sports’.
