The World Academic Summit 2015 was held at Melbourne University, Australia recently. As a fame-growing university in the world, Wuhan University sent a delegation headed by Chief Accountant Ying Weiwei to attend the summit from 30 September to 2 October. Later in Oakland, New Zealand, the delegation signed the Agreement of Research Center of New Environmental Intelligence Computing Technology with its partners in New Zealand.
More than 250 delegates from 34 countries attended The World Academic Summit 2015. This global gathering brought together outstanding leaders in higher education, research, industry and government, to learn, network and share their knowledge and experiences. The delegation interacted with Phil Baty, an editor of the University Rankings and Times Higher Education, Professor Nicholas Dirks, President of University of California at Berkeley, and Nick Fowler, General manager of Elsevier Publishing Company, etc, which enrich this visit to a great extent.
At the World Academic Summit 2015, the delegates listened to myriad reports, such as Building of World-Class Universities, Cultivation of Innovative Talents, Production, Learning and Research as well as International Mobility of Students, etc. They also witnessed how the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2015-2016 List was released, from which they knew about the adjustment of the new evaluation system. For instance, the database of paper retrieval was expanded to EI searching, and the final outcome was evaluated from the reference rate of the domestic universities.

The Agreement of Research Center of New Environmental Intelligence Computing Technology was signed by UNITEC Institute of Technology in New Zealand, Institute of Water and Atmospheric Sciences, Royal Academy of Sciences, LUOJIASHAN De Yi Technology Development Co. Ltd and the WHU delegation. According to the agreement, the research center will integrate the resources in China and New Zealand while providing a cooperation platform for production, learning and research. Meanwhile, in the field of Environment and Information Science, it will launch joint scientific research, offer internships and full scholarships for doctoral students, supervise the postgraduate students, and share the software and data concerning resources and environment and smart city.
Participants who attended the meeting discussed the details of establishing a sub-center at Wuhan University, submitting the application of the project together and carrying out joint education in three schools for large and medium sized enterprises in China.
During their stay, the delegation visited New Zealand Alumni Association and introduced to them the development of Wuhan University and the achievements of its alumni. Nearly 30 alumni donated during two days.
