Wuhan University and University of Aberdeen discusses on collaborative Master training program

On the afternoon of September 9, 2020, Wuhan University and the University of Aberdeen held an online conference to discuss the joint master training program and issues concerning The Confucius Institute. Li Fei, Vice President of WHU, attended and addressed the meeting. Relevant officials from the School of Foreign Languages and Literature, the School of Economics and Management and the Office of International Affairs also joined the meeting.

In his remarks, Li Fei introduced the efforts WHU have made and the achievements have got in the battle against the Covid-19 epidemic and thanked the University of Aberdeen for its efforts to protect the health and safety of WHU faculties and students in the epidemic situation. He said that WHU is currently in the stage of normalized epidemic prevention and control, and it is also a critical period for sticking to the initial mission, which is fostering talents despite any difficulties or obstacles. Therefore, WHU is willing to further deepen the cooperation with UoA to promote the joint training program for masters in Humanities and Social Sciences, so as to realize the complementary advantages of disciplines and the sharing of resources and promote the win-win situation of talent training between the two universities.


Vice President Richard Wales introduced the recent development of the University of Aberdeen, and remarked that WHU is a more and more important partner of UoA through cooperation in establishing the Confucius Institute. He hoped that by holding joint training programs, the two universities could strengthen student exchanges and promote the diversified development of cooperation between.

During the conference, participants from the two universities communicated and negotiated on issues of the joint training program for master of Translation studies, the joint training program for Master of Economics and the renewal of the agreement of the Confucius Institute respectively. The two universities plan to sign relevant project agreement and hold an online signing ceremony.

The partnership between Wuhan University and The University of Aberdeen has lasted for 14 years. The two universities have achieved comprehensive and in-depth cooperation in the fields of mutual visits of teachers, student exchanges, scientific research and joint establishment of Confucius Institutes. And the leaders of the two universities have maintained frequent and efficient exchange of visits.
