On March 25th, the Geospatial Information Technology Collaboration and Innovation Center council met at Wuhan University. Goals for furthering the center’s development including expert training, academic teaching and scientific research were established from a group of academics and experts.

Deren Li, the center’s director, pointed out in his report that the current achievements supported developing several key state science and technology projects, such as a “High-resolution Earth Observation System” and a “2nd Generation Chinese Satellite Navigation System.”, etc. With a combination of domestic and foreign resources, the center has promoted the internationalization of the geospatial information industry and laid the groundwork for future cutting-edge projects.

Led by Wuhan University, the center was co-founded with Tsinghua University, Beihang University and China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation in 2012. With a goal to set up a technical system of acquiring, transmitting, processing and applying geospatial information, the center has made remarkable discoveries in the past two years.
