From November 11th to the 12th, Duke Kunshan University’s (DKU) Board of Trustees visited Wuhan University (WHU). WHU President Li Xiaohong, DKU President Liu Jingnan, WHU Executive President and DKU board member, Feng Youmei, and WHU Vice President Shu Hongbing, were among those attending the first DKU Board of Trustees meeting.
Other attendees included Duke University Provost, as well as the DKU board chairman, Peter Lange, Duke University board director and DKU board member Tom Gorrie, Duke University Executive Vice Provost for Finance and Administration James S. Roberts, Kunshan City deputy mayor Jin Ming, President of Kunshan Yang Chenghu Technology Park Development Zone Shen Jun, and DKU Executive Vice Chancellor Mary Bullock.
At the meeting, Li Xiaohong discussed WHU’s upcoming 120th anniversary and how DKU was a significant achievement in the history of the university. He also enthusiastically pointed out that the cooperation among WHU, Kunshan and Duke University will become a model for academic institutions. President Li expressed that WHU will support the DKU Board of Trustees’ decisions and WHU was committed to DKU’s success.
DKU’s progress towards opening was reported at the meeting. The participants also discussed DKU regulations and passed resolutions concerning international relations, financial operations, faculty and staff recruitment, scientific research, academic projects, students recruitment and brand marketing, etc.
