WHU Visits European Universities

From October 23rd to November 2nd, the vice-chair of Wuhan University’s council, Luo Yuting, led a delegation to Europe, attending the opening ceremony of WHU’s First Overseas Academic Week, while visiting Georg-August-University Goettingen (GAU), the University of Duisburg-Essen (Uni-DUE), the Polytechnic  University of Milan (Polimi) and the Zurich University of Applied Sciences.

The academic week, co-hosted by WHU and Georg-August-University Goettingen, one of the 9 “Elite Universities” in Germany, attracted scholars from Germany, Belgium, Netherland, Norway and Australia and served as an important platform to promote WHU scholars’ academic achievements worldwide. President Ulrika Beisiegel of GAU, welcomed the WHU delegation and signed a joint statement with Luo Yuting on strengthening bilateral cooperation.

At the University of Duisburg-Essen, the WHU delegation met with its vice president, Schroder, and paid a visit to the Ruhr Urban Confucius Institute co-established by WHU and Uni-DUE. In addition, the delegation held talks with the head of East Asia Institute, Heberer, and reviewed the operation mechanism of this institute. Uni-DUE’s East Asia Institute is the largest scientific institution in Germany to conduct research on East Asian politics, economics and culture.

At the Polytechnic University of Milan, Luo Yuting renewed WHU’s cooperation agreement and student exchange agreement with Polimi’s vice president, Noci. The two sides also exchanged views on intensifying cooperation in economics and electronic information.

At the Zurich University of Applied Sciences, president Piveteau received the WHU delegation and supported an exchange agreement in the field of management. The delegation also held talks with the dean of Management and Law School.

The visit will deepen cooperation between WHU and European Universities as well as raise the profile of WHU abroad.
