On February 14th, 2012, China’s annual State Science and Technology Awards was held in Beijing. Out of 374 projects and 10 individuals receving 2011 State Science and Technology Awards, Wuhan University played a key role in 6.
Four projects from WHU received the second prize for the State Scientific and Technological Progress Award (SSTPA): Li Yitian from the Water Conservancy and Hydroelectric Power School with “Linkage Mechanism and Key Regulation and Control Technology in the Process of Rivers and Lakes Alleviation”, Huang Congxin from WHU’s Renmin Hospital with “Basic Research and Clinic Control on Arrhythmia Structure and Neural Remodeling”, Shi Chuang from the National Engineering Research Center for a Satellite Positioning System with “Theory, Method and Software System for Accurate Orbital Determination and Positioning Data Processing of Global Satellite Navigation System”, and Li Jiancheng from the Geodesy and Geomatics School with “Standard and Space Information Access Technology and its Application to Disaster Response Surveying and Mapping”. WHU was also involved in the two other projects that received SSTPA’s second prize.
Last year, in order to encourage academics to further their scientific research, WHU set up various incentive policies such as encouraging research in national key projects, cooperation between industry and academia, platform building, applying for natural science funds and promoting successful developments.
