Through the cooperation between Wuhan University and the Chinese Academy of Science’s Wuhan Institute of Virology, a new labeling strategy, the Multicolor Labeling of Living-Virus Particles in Live Cells, has been theorized and published online in Angewandte Chemie International Edition, a German chemistry journal.

The cooperative project is led by Professor He Zhike in WHU’s Chemistry and Molecular Science College, and Wang Hanzhong in the Wuhan Institute of Virology. It is supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, National Natural Science Foundation of China, and the Key Laboratory of Analytical Chemistry for Biology and Medicine under the Ministry of Education.

The proposed strategy for Multicolor Labeling of Living-Virus Particles in Live Cells may play a significant role in tracking viruses in living cells, studying pathogenic mechanisms, and diagnosing and treating viral diseases.

Meanwhile, the collaboration between the research teams has also lead to the publishing of a paper on Duel-color Labeling of EV71 Virus in Analytical Chemistry, an American chemistry journal.
