As was reported on the website of the Foreign Ministry of the People’s Republic of China, Mr. Huang Xing, Chinese Ambassador to Finland, met with the delegation of Wuhan University (WHU) headed by Prof. Li Jian, chairperson of the WHU University Council on the afternoon of September 13, 2011. Ambassador Huang greeted the delegation, and briefed the delegation on Sino-Finnish relationship, and features of Finnish scientific innovation and higher education. Prof. Li talked about the recent achievements in teaching and research at WHU, and also the main purpose of visiting Finnish institutions of higher learning this time.
As one of the most renowned comprehensive universities in China, WHU has been playing an active part in promoting exchange and cooperation between Chinese and Finnish universities. This WHU delegation included deans of schools and head of the International Office. The delegation had visited the University of Helsinki and Aalto University, meeting with their Finnish counterparts and discussing future work plans on joint postgraduate programs, research collaboration and student exchange.
Officials of the embassy including Counsellor Ma Qiang and head of the Education Section were also present at the meeting.
