For Mr. Ai Luming and his fellows, a group of alumni of Wuhan University (Wuda), donating RMB30, 000, 000 to the alma mater is something like a dream coming true.
The ceremony of donation by Wuhan Dang-dai Hi-tech Industry Group Company to Wuhan University was held the other day. Heads of the group company Mr. Ai Luming and Mr. Zhou Hansheng, President Prof. Li Xiaohong of Wuhan University, and other leaders attended the ceremony. The RMB30 million has already been transferred to the account of Wuhan University to date.
“Raising funds for our alma mater to build a multi-functional complex which will serve the needs of postgraduates’ teaching, research and management has always been a lasting wish of us. This wish was made when we finished our master’s study here,” Mr. Ai Luming put it this way.
Mr. Zhou Hansheng also said: “The core entrepreneurs who started up the company all graduated from Wuda and used to be active members of the Postgraduates’ Union. In those old days the conditions for postgraduates’ study and accommodation were a bit harsh. So we made up our minds that we would do something when our careers were well established.”
In 1988, 7 postgraduates from Wuda including Ai Luming, Zhou Hansheng, with only RMB2,000 as the initial funding, started their business by setting up Wuhan Dang-dai Bio-tech Research Institute. With the spirit shared and cherished by all alumni of Wuda, they made it even starting from scratch.
