Bruce Dowton, president of Macquarie University in Australia, visited Wuhan University (WHU) with his delegation on April 16. Huang Taiyan, WHU's Party secretary, welcomed the guests and held in-depth discussions on university-industry collaboration and research innovation.

Huang gave a brief overview of WHU and noted the strong alignment between the two institutions regarding governance philosophies. He hoped to deepen cooperation in joint PhD training, academic exchange, and scientific research.
Dowton thanked WHU for the warm reception and shared Macquarie's recent achievements. He praised the success of their joint doctoral programs and expressed interest in expanding collaboration in education and research.
Macquarie University, founded in 1964, is Australia's leading public research university. The two universities established a partnership in 2006. WHU Vice-president Li Ziyuan visited Macquarie University in April this year, where the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding to advance collaboration.
