China-Egypt partnership deepens with launch of Wuhan-Benha Graduate School

Wuhan University (WHU) and Egypt's Benha University have launched the Wuhan-Benha Graduate School in Cairo, following the signing of a memorandum of understanding. This marks the first high-level joint talent development program between Chinese and Egyptian universities.

Lu Chunsheng, counselor for Education Affairs at the Chinese Embassy in Egypt, Zhang Pingwen, president of WHU, Nasser Elgizawy, president of Benha University, and Fan Zhiqiang, vice-president of FiberHome Technologies Group, attended the signing ceremony.

The new graduate school will draw on both universities' strengths to offer four master's and two doctoral dual-degree programs in engineering, international business, and nursing, with plans to expand into more disciplines. The two sides will establish a training and internship base to support local workforce development and strengthen university-industry collaboration.

WHU President Zhang Pingwen described the initiative as a key step in advancing the internationalization of education, implementing the goals of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, and expanding the university's global presence.

The graduate school aims to become a vital platform for China-Egypt cooperation in science, technology, and cultural exchange, supporting the Belt and Road Initiative and contributing to Africa's sustainable development and the China-Africa community with a shared future.
