French acting consul general visits WHU

Christian Thimonier, the newly appointed acting consul general of France in Wuhan, visited Wuhan University (WHU) on June 12. He was welcomed by President Zhang Pingwen and Vice-President Yuan Yufeng.

President Zhang highlighted the long-standing and fruitful collaborations between WHU and French institutions in education, research, and cultural exchange. He noted the success of joint programs, such as the Sino-French Elite Mathematics Class and the Sino-French Law Class, as well as collaborative platforms like the Sino-French Joint Research Center in Mathematics. Zhang expressed hope to deepen cultural and digital education cooperation through the Alliance francaise de Wuhan and the Confucius Institute at the Universite Paris Cite.

Thimonier thanked the university for its warm reception and praised the recent French-language seminar on "Digital Humanities and Cultural Heritage Preservation", calling it a strong example of the integration of science and the humanities. He expressed hope for even closer cooperation with French universities and research institutions in talent development, innovation, and cultural exchange.
