WHU's Chen Haoyang wins gold at national athletics championships

At the 23rd National College Athletics Championships, Chen Haoyang of Wuhan University (WHU) dominated the Men's Group C 110 m hurdles, claiming gold with a powerhouse performance and setting a record for the university.

The competition was held on Aug 10-15 at Huangshi Olympic Sports Center in Hubei, featured over 3,640 athletes from 490 universities nationwide. Chen advanced smoothly through the preliminaries and, despite heavy rain and a slippery track in the final, showcased exceptional skill and determination to cross the finish line first.

Since enrolling in 2023, Chen has grown from a Level 2 athlete into a top competitor under coach Xu Feng's guidance, previously earning a national runner-up title and a short hurdles championship. His gold medal is a testament to his relentless training, perseverance, and expert coaching.
