A delegation from the University of Bonn (UoB), led by President Michael Hoch, visited Wuhan University on April 21 to meet with its president, Zhang Pingwen, and sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
Zhang detailed WHU's history, academic strengths, and internationalization efforts, emphasizing the promising prospects for collaboration between the two institutions. He suggested that platforms such as the Sino-German Center for Research Promotion could enhance communication and foster mutual learning.
The center aims to promote short-term student exchanges and joint training programs by building on each institution’s respective strengths and enabling practical cooperation through faculty and student exchanges and collaborative research.
Hoch shared insights into the UoB's open and international educational philosophy, its academic environment that fosters free thought, and its experience in attracting young scholars from around the world.
The delegation also met with representatives from WHU’s faculties, including the School of Philosophy, the School of Foreign Languages and Literature, and the Economics and Management School.
UoB, a leading research university, is ranked 92nd in the 2026 Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
